Summer Reading Program 2021

Summer Reading Program 2021

Join us for our annual summer reading program for babies, toddlers, children, and teens! This year the theme is called “Tails & Tales”! Our summer reading program will begin on June 2nd to August 21st. We will be using the app READsquared again this summer! Read and earn prizes at the library! Register at http://nbpl.readsquared.com to participate!

What is summer reading?

Summer reading is a passive program coordinated by the library. Summer reading takes place during the summer for babies, children, and teens! Our summer reading program aims to make reading fun and instill a love of reading and learning in our community!

How does the program work?

This year’s summer reading will be conducted on an app called “readsquared”. Participants can log their reading, play games, review books, earn prizes, and pick them up at the library! you can register at nbpl.readsquared.com or download the app!

Why is summer reading important?

Summer reading not only instills a love of reading and promotes resources at the library but, Summer reading programs also combat summer slide. Summer slide is the loss of important educational gains over the summer when school is out. children need to keep reading and learning over the summer in order to be prepared for school in the fall!

What if I don’t have a smartphone or computer?

Our summer reading program this year is virtual but we will also have paper reading logs available if families do not have access to a computer or smartphone! You can call us at 201-869-4715 or email info@nbpl.org for more information about paper charts!
