Announcing our 2026 Summer Reading Challenges! We are breaking down everything you need to know to prepare yourselves for a summer of adventure! Both the Adult and Children’s Summer Reading programs begin the week of June 15th. The Adult Summer Reading program will conclude on August 16th. The Children’s Summer Reading will end on July 24th.

This year’s theme for Children and Teens is “Unearth a Story”. Inspired by archeaology, paleontology and more, the theme encourages children and teens to discover new worlds. Please see the rules below!

Join the  “Unearth a Story” reading challenge at the library this summer!

All you have to do is just read 15 minutes everyday to win a weekly prize.

There will be one grand prize winner in every age category for the reader with the most points.

Please select your child/children age range for the appropriate level. 

Start logging the amount of time they spend reading to get their prizes!

We are taking a road trip for the Adult Summer Reading Challenge. This summer, in honor of America’s 250th birthday, we are taking a cross-country road trip. Starting on June 15th, you can grab your Summer Reading brouchure and map and begin your jounrey!

Some important information

  • The goal of the summer is 10 books.

  • There is a bonus: get an extra point if you read your way to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, OR ANY U.S.TERRITORY.
  • Starting from NJ, try to read 2 books from each region. You cannot read 2 books set in the same state.
  • Books must be set within each state.

  • The Goal is to travel from east coast to west coast.

When you have made it to the West Coast, bring your completed map to any Library branch location for your prize. All patrons who read 10 or more books, will be added to the raffle for the Grand Prize!

THE MAIN LIBRARY IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RENOVATION. OUR TEMPORARY UPTOWN LOCATION IS LOCATED AT 510 81ST STREET.
