In an effort to promote contact-free interactions, the North Bergen Public Library has acquired Meescan Self-Checkout machines for all three library branches.  These machines will give library members the ability to checkout library materials on their own, without needing a staff member.  This will help people avoid lines and limit contact between staff and patrons.

The machines, located close to the circulation desks at all three branches of the library, are easy to use.  Simply scan your library card, and then, when prompted, scan the barcodes located on the items that you wish to check out. When you are done, tap “Finish” and select your receipt method to complete the interaction.  You will still need to visit the circulation desk if you wish to check out items that come in locked cases, such as DVDs or video games, or if you wish to retrieve items on hold for you.

Meescan also comes with an app that can be downloaded to your phone or device.  This app will allow you to check out materials to your library card using your device, without needing to visit the Self-Checkout machines.  Please see a library staff member if you have any questions about using Meescan.

Coming Soon: The library has also acquired a set of outdoor lockers at all three locations that will soon be available for overnight use.  These lockers will allow you to pick up library materials that you have placed on hold, outside of regular library hours.  The lockers are currently being installed, and will be available soon.
